If you\u2019ve ever played video games, you\u2019ve probably seen games designed with an\u00a0\u201cescape-the-room\u201d theme. These types of games are usually set in fictional locations, such as castles, prisons, haunted houses, space stations, etc. The purpose is to escape by solving a puzzle using various clues you are required to find.<\/p>\n

An escape room<\/a>, in contrast, is a physical adventure game, played in real life, that\u2019s based on the video game genre. You, along with friends, family, or co-workers, choose a scenario and get background information, then you\u2019re locked in a room and given (usually) 60 minutes to find, decipher, and utilize clues to unlock the door to escape.<\/p>\n

Simple enough, right? Not so fast. The ever-changing scenarios used in these rooms would make Sir Arthur Conan Doyle<\/a> proud.<\/p>\n

Escape for Team Building<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was a time when employees had to make \u201ctrust falls\u201d or spend a day clinging to rope bridges for dear life, all in the name of corporate team building. Thankfully, corporate training has kicked things up a notch.<\/p>\n

The trust fall \u2013 closing your eyes and falling backward while hoping your colleagues catch you \u2013 was not only dreaded by most employees, it was pretty much an exercise in futility<\/a>. Nowadays, escape rooms are rapidly becoming a favorite method to encourage employee bonding and team building.Not only do they allow employees an opportunity for intellectual and (sometimes) physical activity, employees also get to utilize problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and exercise some leadership chops. And, best of all, have fun while doing it!<\/a><\/p>\n
